Deal with the elf king review

Some books transport you to another world—this one made my whole day disappear. I decided to listen to the graphic audio adaptation on Audible, thinking I’d get a bit of background noise while baking. Well… fast forward a few hours, and not only had I baked two loaves of sourdough, made my own Nutella, and tackled the laundry, but my house was sparkling, and I had been completely immersed in this book.

Let’s start with the audio experience. If you haven’t tried a graphic audio book before, this one is a fantastic introduction. The full cast, sound effects, and immersive storytelling made it feel more like a fantasy movie playing in my head than just a book. Highly recommend this format if you want to be fully sucked into a story.

Now, the book itself—adorable. Deal with the Elf King is a light romantasy that delivers exactly what you’d hope for: a cozy, magical love story with just a touch of spice.

We’ve got:

✔️ Enemies-to-lovers tension

✔️ A human navigating the Fae realm

✔️ One-bed trope (because obviously)

✔️ Morally gray characters to swoon over

The romance was sweet, the characters had great chemistry, and the pacing kept me engaged. It’s perfect for readers who love romantasy but don’t necessarily need super complex plots or heavy world-building.

What I Missed

While I adored the story, I did feel like the world-building could have been richer. The Fae realm sounded intriguing, but we didn’t get to explore it as much as I wanted. There were moments where I wished for more depth—especially with the side characters. I understand why the protagonist is content in her little world, but I’m nosy and want to see more!

Final Thoughts
This book is ideal if you’re looking for a cozy, low-stress romantasy with just enough magic and romance to keep you hooked. If you go in expecting a light, charming read rather than an epic fantasy, you’ll have a fantastic time.
